Friday Favorites No. 14: Velvet Edition

Happy Friday Y’all! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week. As I post this, I’m relaxing on the beaches of Cancun, Mexico trying to soak in the warm weather because I know back in Texas it’s a bit cooler. I do LOVE dressing for the cold though, and one of my favorite trends for winter is velvet! It was a staple in my closet last year and will be again this year! The picture above was taken earlier this year in one of my favorite velvet dresses, and even though it’s sold out, I’ve rounded up some more of my favorite velvet pieces and put them together below!

1. Tops // I bought a top super similar to this one last year and it was one of my favorite purchases all year! I’m also absolutely loving this top and am adding it to my cart right now. Some more of my favorites are here, here, and here.

2. Dresses // Velvet Dresses are the perfect all around winter outfit. I just bought this one and wore it to a wedding and got so many compliments! And how gorgeous is this velvet midi dress?

3. Pants & Skirts // I love skirts because you can mix and match them with so many tops. I also love these velvet leggings!

4. Shoes // I am obsessed with these velvet mules and these sneakers! How fun are those?

5. Accessories // Velvet accessories are the perfect finish to a cute outfit! I mean, how could you not want to carry this clutch? I’ve said this so many times, but baseball caps are the easiest thing to throw on when you don’t feel like doing you’re hair, and this one and this one are the best because they still help you feel put together!

Clearly, I’m obsessed with velvet, but it’s just so pretty how can you not be? Haha! Thanks for stopping by! I hope everyone has a great weekend. You can check out some of my past Friday Favorites below:

Essential Beach Packing List

Cory and I are getting ready for a trip to Cancun, Mexico, so I wanted to put together an essential beach packing list to help anyone else planning a future beach trip. Whether or not you’re planning a beach vacation, now is a wise time to shop these items because a lot of them are on major sale this time of year. The nice thing about packing for a beach getaway is that you don’t really need to pack that much. No jackets, boots, or sweaters are needed, so you should be able to fit everything in a carry-on suitcase. Sunshine is the perfect compliment to vibrant colors and bold florals, so have fun with your fabric choices.

Beach packing list

Sun Hat // Sun hats are a must have for any beach-goer. Not only are they super cute, but they also protect your face & scalp from the sun. How adorable is this one? I also love this one.

Cover up // When packing for the beach, don’t forget to bring a cover up. This boyfriend shirt cover up is great if you want a little more coverage and this one shows a little more skin.

Sandals // For all of the times that you’re not barefoot in the sand, you’ll want a few sandal options. These, these, and these are my favorite beach sandals because they can all be dressed up or down.

Beach Bag // You will always need a good beach bag to throw your towels, books, and water bottles in. Two of my favorites are this one and this one. I also really love this little straw clutch for nights out.

Sunscreen // Don’t forget your sunscreen for a beach getaway! I love this sunscreen because it’s natural and eco friendly.

Swimsuit // This is a no brainer when it comes to beach essentials. I like to travel with a couple different swimsuits so I always have a dry one on hand. I am obsessed with this one piece, this high waisted suit, and this bikini.

Beach Towel // Everyone needs a good beach towel to lay on and dry off with after a swim. This one is bright and perfect for those hot days on the sand. Want something a little unique? Check out this round one. This one and this one are also super fun.

Sunglasses // In order to protect your eyes from the sun’s UV rays, you need a good pair of sunglasses. I used to buy less expensive sunglasses, but these & these are all polarized, which I found out is way better for your eyes.

Dress // Dresses are my favorite beach clothes! I love this one, this one, and this one. This maxi dress can also double as a cover up!

Shorts // A few pairs of shorts are always a good idea. I love this jean pair and this linen pair.

Tank Tops // Tank tops are my favorite because they keep you cooler than something with sleeves. If you want something other than a tank top, this lightweight cotton shirt is a great option.

I hope this list can help serve as a starting point for your next warm weather vacay! Did I forget anything? Let me know your beach essentials in the comments below.

We got a puppy!!! & A Gift Guide for Dog Lovers

I am beyond thrilled to announce that we got a puppy!!!!! We picked him up over the weekend and he is just the sweetest little thing I’ve ever seen. His name is Oliver and he is an F1 Goldendoodle! A few months ago we chose a breeder, paid our deposit, and then patiently waited until he was born. Cory and I are already obsessed with him and are feeling some serious puppy love. Haha! Here is Oliver the Goldendoodle. (AKA Ollie)

Ollie the golden doodleOliver the golden doodle

Who knew there were so many cute dog things? I sure didn’t until this past week when we started shopping for Oliver. I decided to stick with the dog theme for my Sunday gift guide, so for all you dog lovers out there, here’s a gift guide for you!

Gift guide for dog lovers

Couch Dog Bed // How genius is this dog couch bed??? For all you moms that want your pups with you on the couch, this is for you!!

Monogrammed Bed, Collar, & Food Bowl // Don’t even get me started on this monogrammed bed, collar, and food bowl. I mean… ADORABLE!

Treat Canister // I found this dog treat canister and loved how simple and clean it was.

Dog Illustration // My sister-in-law does these dog illustrations and they make the perfect gift!! I can’t wait to get one done of Ollie!

Quilted Jacket // Even though Ollie will be too big to wear this, I still though this jacket was the cutest thing ever. Does it get much more precious than a dog in a quilted jacket? I don’t think so!

Dog Treats & Toy // Every dog needs some good treats and a cute gingham toy! (Even if they’re going to chew it up) Am I right?

Leash // I just love this colorful leash! It’s so fun and makes me happy!

Gift Guide: Girl On The Go

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Starting today, I will be posting a new gift guide every Sunday for the months of November and December! I have a bunch of ideas, but if you have a particular gift guide you’d like to see (such as for your hubby, mom, or BFF) let me know in the comments!

Suitcase // Tote // Wrap // Passport Holder // Sunglasses // Eye Mask // Baseball Cap // Travel pods // Leather  Bag

 1. Suitcase

I am absolutely obsessed with this rose gold carry-on suitcase. Not only is this suitcase extremely stylish, it’s also super durable because of it’s hard shell. It also comes as a set with the larger suitcase.

2. Tote

This tote is seriously my favorite travel purse. It is water-resistant and is super easy to clean if it gets dirty. I’ve had mine for years and it still looks brand new.

3. Wrap

I always get cold on airplanes and a wrap will easily solve that problem. I love the tassels on this one and the fringe on this one.  If you want to splurge get this beautiful cashmere one. also love this one.

4. Passport Holder

This Kate Spade passport holder is the more adorable thing I’ve ever seen. I need this now.

5. Sunglasses

I’m a sucker for a good pair of sunglasses and these are super versatile, while still being fun and stylish.

6. Silk Eye Mask

If you have trouble sleeping on airplanes like I do, than do yourself a favor and get this silk eye mask. Yep, you heard that right… it’s made out of silk! Amazing! Here’s another option made by UGG.

7. Baseball Cap

I’m all about throwing a baseball cap on after a long flight and this one has the perfect touch of velvet girlyness to give it a little extra pop.

8. Travel Pods

The key to happy traveling is organization and these pink travel pods will do just the trick.

9. Leather Bag

This leather bag is the perfect size for your carry-on-bag!

Friday Favorites No. 12

Happy Friday everyone! Who else can’t believe it’s November? OMG! In my eyes, when it hits November, that means it’s basically almost Christmas! Haha! Here are my favorites from this week:

1. Cozy Clothes

Cozy clothes and home goods have got to be one of my favorite things about this time of year. Here are some of my favorite things that I can’t wait to get cozy with:

  • Comfy Pajamas- Something about the cold weather makes me want to bundle up by a warm fire in a cute & comfy pair of pajamas! I got this pair a couple of months ago and they are hands down my favorite pajamas. They are so soft and the most comfortable thing I’ve ever slept in. They also make a sleep shirt version, and a pant version.
  • Slippers- I’ve had these UGG slippers for years and they are still my favorite pair.
  • Robes- Ya’ll. I may be late to the game, but I just discovered this brand and I’m in love. On our recent trip to Nashville, I bought the world’s softest wrap and it is amazing. I’m not even kidding. Needless to say, everything that they make will be on my Christmas wishlist including this robe and this blanket.
  • Scarves & Capes- Who doesn’t love a good scarf to wear in the cool weather? This is my favorite scarf, and I’m equally as obsessed with this wrap.
  • Pom Pom Hats- To say that I’m in love with pom pom hats would be an understatement. I went skiing last year and wore one every day and became a huge fan. This one is from Forever 21 and is such a steal! Snag it while you can!
  • Candles- Candles are my weakness. If they smell good, I buy them. This candle is the perfect scent to get your house to smell like fall.
  • Blankets- Like me, yall probably have too many blankets, but when I saw this one my jaw just about dropped. I think it’s absolutely darling and I’m adding it to my cart right now.

2. Halloween

Even though Halloween isn’t my favorite holiday (typical Halloween things scare me too much… haha), I still think it’s fun to dress up! One of our friend’s had a Halloween party, so day-of, we decided what we wanted to be, and I made our costumes. Cory was a piñata and I was the girl at the party who hits the piñata. Haha! I made his costume with a white t-shirt and crate paper streamers. It took about 5 hours to make, but I thought it turned out pretty well!

Cory Cotton

3. Dallas Arboretum

Going to the Dallas Arboretum was on the top of my bucket list this fall, and we finally made it last weekend. The weather had finally cooled down, so it was the perfect day to stroll around and look at pumpkins. If you didn’t see my post about our time at the arboretum, you can read it here.

Outfit details: Sweater // Poncho (similar here & here) // Jeans // Flats

4. Date Night

For a sweet date night, Cory planned a picnic in our backyard and we finished off the night by making smores over our little backyard grill. They were so delicious!

Traeger Grill

5. Silobration

We went to Waco, Texas for the annual Silobration at Magnolia Market and per usual, it was amazing. My sister-in-law always has a booth at the vendor fair, and Cory and I LOVE getting to explore all of the little shops. I found so many fun new things that I can’t wait to share with you.

  • Obviously my favorite vendor is Marry Me In Spring. I might be biased, but her stuff really is the best. I mean, how cute are these dog prints?
  • Next, is this shop with the prettiest pillows & blankets.
  • Every year at the Silobration I seem to buy a new Letterfolk Board! Haha! Sometimes I get them for myself, but the last couple of times I bought them they were for gifts. I purchased this small grey board most recently, and I can’t wait to write some fun holiday phrases on it.

Well, that’s another week of Friday Favorites. There are some amazing sales going on at Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, Baublebar, and Pottery Barn this weekend. Now is the perfect time to start stocking up on winter clothes, Christmas presents, and home decor! I hope everyone has a great Friday!

Autumn at the Dallas Arboretum

Sweater // Mules // Jeans // Poncho (similar herehere & here)

Ever since Autumn at the Arboretum began back in September, I’d been wanting to go look at the new Wonderful World of Oz display in the Dallas Arboretum’s pumpkin village. Even though it was absolutely packed, there were plenty of pumpkins for everyone to see. The weather here is just starting to cool down, so naturally I wanted to wear a fall appropriate outfit. I wore my new favorite flats, which I must say I’m obsessed with. They’re not only super cute, but also extremely comfortable! I also really love them in black. These are probably one of my favorite pair of flats I’ve ever bought. I found a handful of other great mules like these, these, these and these (under $25)!!!

I paired these flats with this pair of jeans, this sweater, and a poncho! My poncho is sold out, but I found some similar options here, here & here (currently 25% off)

Going to the Arboretum is definitely one of my favorite fall traditions and I can’t wait to go back next year!
