On May 16, 2015, Cory and I got to know each other for the first time during a prayer, worship, and evangelism trip that our church puts on called Unashamed. We stayed at a church the entire weekend that had an absolutely amazing rooftop view of Dallas.
On March 26, 2016 Cory and I had planned to go on a double date with some of our friends, Ally and Ryan Wall. We picked them up and were headed towards Bolsa in the Bishop Arts District when Ryan asked if we could make a quick stop at the church (where Unashamed was) to pick up something that someone had left him. I didn’t think anything of it because it was on the way to the restaurant and I figured Ryan, who started the whole Unashamed weekend, went to the church all the time to pick things up.
We got to Tyler Street Methodist Church and went up to the third floor, which is where they were supposed to be “looking for something.” The whole time there, Cory and I were reminiscing about how it was so sweet to be back where we first met (well kind of first met.. haha more on that in a later post). Then Cory asked Ryan if he thought the roof would be open so we could take a quick look before we went to dinner. Ryan said he didn’t know, but that we could check if we wanted to.
We then walked up a couple flights of stairs to the roof and I opened the door to a photographer snapping pictures of us. I was a little confused and even after I saw the beautiful set up of things, I still didn’t believe what was happening. After some extremely sweet words (that I don’t remember that much of), Cory got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him! Obviously, I said YES!
Huge shout out to the people who helped make this day incredibly special: Our parents, our friends who helped set up, and Paparazzi Proposals for taking the amazing photos! Yall are seriously the best!
